Project Overview – USAID NextGen Ugavi Bora, Afya Bora

This USAID-funded initiative focuses on improving Tanzania’s public health supply chain and pharmaceutical services by building local capacity and integrating private sector solutions. The goal is to achieve sustainable access to quality, affordable health commodities.

Role Summary

The Private Sector Data and Innovation Specialist will play a key role in linking private sector expertise with public health priorities. This includes enhancing data systems, promoting digital health innovations, and expanding private sector engagement within Tanzania’s healthcare supply chain ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

🔗 Private Sector Engagement

• Cultivate partnerships with supply chain and pharmaceutical providers in the private sector

• Conduct landscape analyses and identify opportunities for collaboration

• Evaluate private sector practices to spot gaps and innovation potential

Data & Systems Integration

• Improve private sector data collection/reporting for better forecasting and decision-making

• Integrate private sector data with national health information systems

• Develop dashboards, analytics tools, and interoperability solutions to track performance

Digital Health & Innovation

• Identify and implement innovative digital solutions for the health sector

• Coordinate with tech and digital health partners for aligned implementation

• Document and share success stories and learning from private sector contributions

Capacity Building & Sustainability

• Build technical skills among private sector actors in data analytics and digital systems

• Promote local ownership and long-term use of digital tools

• Facilitate knowledge exchange across sectors

Coordination & Reporting

• Collaborate with USAID, government bodies, and implementation partners

• Prepare reports, case studies, and presentations showcasing results

• Represent the project in stakeholder meetings, technical forums, and working groups

Candidate Profile

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in public health, pharmacy, supply chain, data science, information systems, or similar

• At least 3 years of relevant experience in private sector engagement, supply chain, or digital health

• Strong data visualization skills (Power BI, Tableau)

• Proficiency in Python or R for data analysis

• Experience working with private healthcare providers or supply chain actors

• Familiarity with digital health standards, interoperability frameworks, and Tanzania’s health data landscape

• Excellent communication in English; Kiswahili a plus

• Experience with USAID or other donor-funded projects preferred
